Welcome to “Watching Your Tax Dollars.” This document will be published and distributed to the media and think tanks periodically during the interim and ensuing legislative sessions. We think you will find it very useful. Its purpose is to shine a light on questionable spending by various state government agencies. At a time when the nonpartisan Senate Ways and Means Committee staff is projecting a state revenue deficit of $2.5 billion next year, it’s reasonable and prudent to find ways to save tax dollars. One way of doing that is pointing out examples of wasteful spending by state government.
